Review
"Between one breath and the next—between one shutter click and the next a breeze has moved a branch, the light source has shifted and Yosemite is born anew. . . . It is apparent to the casual observer why Frye has gained a following over the years. Yosemite holds such a deep meaning and purpose to him he is compelled to share his emotions. Some photographs are clean, precise and exacting in their focus that they appear to have been etched in a three-dimensional medium. Others have the slow shutter blurring of colors and lines to appear to be created through watercolor. Each captured moment is unique and arresting as you turn the pages of this lovely book your eyes are held. . . . For this reader, the meditation happens on seeing, feeling and communing with each photograph. "
Mother Nature Network, August 22, 2014:
"This summer marks the 150th anniversary of the Yosemite Grant Act, which set aside the first portion of the park for future generations and paved the way for the creation of the revered U.S. National Park System. One of the best ways to celebrate our first national park is to visit it yourself, but for all the armchair travelers out there, there's "Yosemite Meditations." . . . [B]e sure to buy a copy to further experience the expansive beauty of Yosemite!"
Vividlife.me, August 2014:
"Although I have never been to Yosemite, I found myself transported cross country to what looks to be one of the most gloriously beautiful places on the planet. "Yosemite Meditations" is the work of photographer Michael Frye whose eye for capturing the essence of the place is highly attuned. . . .This tenth anniversary version of the book is an exceptional companion whatever path you traverse."
