1971. cxliv, 358pp. 5 B&W plates. Poems and letters, dedications, lampoons of Sir John Suckling. Top edge dusty, otherwise the book is in excellent condition with no inscriptions. The unclipped dust jacket is lightly soiled and slightly loose. PLEASE NOTE: Heavyish book so a little extra may be needed for shipping to non-UK customers. "Suckling's works are here presented in a canon, text, and order more authoritative than those of both the posthumous and unauthorized seventeenth-century collections and the more recent ones-the last published in 1910-closely based on them. Many of Suckling's works circulated in manuscript, and early manuscript-texts, most here used for this purpose for the first time, have helped to present texts closer to Suckling's original intention. General and textual introductions, commentary, appendices, and critical apparatus are provided.".
