About this Item
[a bit of extremely minor soiling to the edges of the text block, no other discernible wear; the jacket is flawless]. (Filmmakers, No. 78) Series (B&W photographs) In his memoir, the author "recalls being forced to immigrate to the United States in the 1930s as the Nazis took power in Germany. As a Jewish immigrant, Siodmak's experiences of immigrating and becoming Americanized powerfully affected his perception of freedom and of human dynamics. Siodmak's stories, through the genres of sci-fi and horror, reflect this historical perspective as well as his intent to convey universal human truths through his writing. With fifty-six films to his credit, [he also] wrote more than two dozen novels, including 'Donovan's Brain' and 'For Kings Only.'" Among his screenplays were THE WOLF MAN (1941), I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE (1943), THE BEAST WITH FIVE FINGERS (1946) and BRIDE OF THE GORILLA (1951) -- the last-named of which he also directed. (The present book is a revised edition of an earlier memoir, published in 1997 under the title "Even a Man Who is Pure at Heart.") ****NOTE that additional postage charges will be assessed for international shipping of this somewhat heavy book; if this concerns you, please contact us for a shipping quote before placing your order.****.
