Gelatin silver photograph. Measuring 10" x 8". Modest wear, very good or better. Stamp on the verso and printed snipe tipped-on there so it folds over onto the recto. A haunting image of a fight between C.I.O. strike picketers and non-strikers in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Two African-American men are seen holding bricks. Now known as the "Little Steel strike" (giant US Steel having signed a historic collective bargaining agreement with the Steel Workers Organizing Committee in March), it was reportedly one of the most violent labor disputes of the 1930s.
