Latter is chipped at bottom with slight loss. This title is often regarded as one of his most powerful works, and won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1962. The story follows Ethan Allen Hawley, a former member of a wealthy family who is now struggling financially and morally. He begins to consider dishonest actions to restore his wealth and status, but ultimately faces a crisis of conscience. The novel explores themes of morality, corruption, and the American Dream.
