'Will O' The Wisp' by Pierre Drieu La Rochelle. Calder & Boyars 1966. First edition UK. Originally printed 1931 and re-issued in 1963 as 'Le Feu Follet' by Librarie Gallimard Paris. This is the 1966 English translation of 1966. A controversial author. There is a little dustiness otherwise dj is bright, clean and unclipped showing old price of 27s 6d. Very good book all round with just a few handling/dustiness marks to the back which is white. Contents very good. A scarce item and a powerful novel, covering the last 48 hours in the life of a drug addict and his search for a meaning to go on living before committing suicide. First published in France in 1931, the novel was based on the suicide of one of the author's friends. Pierre Drieu la Rochelle fell out of favour in France when his sympathies with the Vichy government, were exposed. He committed suicide in 1947. *****Overseas buyers: please do note that it is a buyer's responsibily to check what import duties, taxes and charges could be incurred by you due to a country's customs rules.
