First edition. Octavo green pictorial cloth stamped in black and lettered in gilt. Illustrated throughout with full-page and vignette b/w drawings by the author. This is Blanck’s first issue without “The Angel whispered don’t go” at the bottom of page 265. Former owner’s name on a front flyleaf and on the second flyleaf, a neat pencilled “Index to notes” (these notes are neatly identified in the text by small red arrows in the margins). Laid in is an original pencil drawing of a fox head and a two-page 1904 ALS from Seton requesting from the publisher, a copy of the book for a Mr. Naylor, who wants to take some pictures of the book for an article. Seton adds, “Be sure it is the latest name-corrected edition”. A fine, bright copy with the front and back panels of the ORIGINAL DUST JACKET, lacking the spine. The whole preserved in a custom brown chemise and half brown morocco slipcase. Rare with any part of the dust jacket.
