Item description from seller

Square 8vo 8" to 9" tall; 16 pages; Clean and secure in original pictorial wrappers with images of Santas, reindeer and various presents (wrapped) and potential presents (clothes on racks, pajamas, sporting goods, etc) on a dark green background. This 1940s Christmas catalog was from Lewis and Thomas Saltz, a premier men's clothing store located at 1409 G St. NW in downtown Washington a couple blocks from the White House. [The Steen family from Chicago took over the shop in 1955; JFK's inaugural top hat coming from there.] In addition to the usual ties, bathrobes, accessories, smoking jackets and other men's clothing, there is a four page section on military apparel and accessories (including insignia and shoulder boards). A scarce piece of advertising ephemera from the Second World War homefront and an interesting bit of Washington social history.
