Item description from seller

Small 8vo 7½" - 8" tall; 149 pages; 1927 Boni & Liveright. HC/DJ. 1st edition. Uncommon Boni & Liveright anthology of literary and biographical puzzles featuring original contributions by Alexander Woollcott, Richard Connell, Kathleen Norris, Will Irwin, Inez Haynes Irwin, Theodore W. Case, and numerous other journalists, novelists, and public figures of the 1920s. Each contributor anonymously describes a person, place, or thing through a series of clues, with the solutions supplied separately. Snugly bound in ribbed yellow cloth stamped in black with titles to the spine and an Art Deco design of a human profile formed entirely from question marks to the cover. Pictorial dust jacket with publisher's $1.50 issue price intact to the unclipped front flap lacks the upper two inches of the spine panel, including the title lettering. Prior owner ink stamp and later purchase notation to the front flyleaf. Contents are bright, fresh, and unmarked. VG++/VG-.
