Item description from seller

Hardcover in very good condition. Hand made and hand painted Wooden cover boards with green cloth hinges, attached to a fixed spine which extends about a half inch in from the edge and attaches to the separate cover board, so that it flips open quite nicely. The wooden cover features a painting of a boy in a sombrero smoking a cigarette and standing next to a cactus in a desert landscape. The painting appears to be painted directly on to the light yellow painted boards. The wood grain shows through the painted back round and figure. The wooden cover seems to be one of a kind. The handmade wooden cover was retrofitted to a periodical from Culinary Arts, Volume 1, Number 5, published in 1936 in Reading, Pennsylvania. "The Western Cookbook; 250 Tempting Recipes; Many Characteristic Northwestern, Southwestern and Mexican Recipes" has it's own green card cover and saddle stapled binding. The back green cover is glued to the surface of the back wooden board. 48 pp.
