About this Item
The Howard story for this issue of Weird Tales is "Black Canaan" which, according to the cover blurb, involves "spine-chilling voodoo and bitter magic" in the area called Canaan around the Black River in the southern swamplands outside New Orleans. Condition: Front and back covers are intact and firmly attached, along with the spine, which is in overall very good shape and only shows a minimal amount of fading, with a small section of clear tape securing the bottom and extending onto the front and back covers. The front cover doesn't show the typical edge wear found on other magazines of this age, just some very slight wear at the bottom, and is almost completely free of any creases ort blemishes. An apparent water stain partly intrudes onto the white "d" of the title block. As usual, some soiling shows in the white areas of the back cover. Additionally, several areas in the Shakespeare ad on the back cover show text loss where surface paper has been pulled way. (See photos.) Interior pulp pages have browned but are still supple and firm, with no coupons clipped and no rips or tears. Top and bottom margins of the pages look untrimmed. Excellent condition for its age.
