Hardcover. Condition Fine. Kegan Paul, Trench & Co., 1889. First Edition. Original blue cloth with gilt lettering to front cover and spine. Black coated end papers. This is a major literary/medical association copy with inscription to Emily Thornton Stoker from J.B.Y February 1889. Emily Thornton Stoker was wife of Sir William Thornley Stoker, eldest brother of the author of Dracula, Bram Stoker. and President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. J.B.Y. are the initials of John Butler Yeats, father of the poet W.B. Yeats and artist Jack B. Yeats. There is a white name sticker E. Thornley Stoker, Ely House, Dublin on the inside of the upper board. The book is in fine condition. Presentation copies of this landmark Yeats title are of the utmost scarcity. Wade 2.
