About this Item
First Edition (NAP). A Citadel-Trend book. This is a very rare hardcover. I've priced it is the least expensive despite being in equal or better condition than any other for sale. As you should be able see from the photos, the covers are exceptionally clean (note that the unusual design could be mistaken for soiling). The red lettering on the spine is very bright. The corners and edges don't appear to have any wear. The top edge of the spine has a tiny crease, and there are two small dents on the rear cover. The book is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout. There are no binding issues. The first page is the title page which is unusual, but I see absolutely no indication or evidence that there was ever a front end paper (the gutter looks perfectly normal). The pages are in very nice condition. They are toned, uniformly toned, however they are also very clean. I'm not seeing any instances of soiling or staining (the title page does have more toning, or perhaps possibly foxing, off the top edge. The pages have a nice supple feeling to them. There are no markings. There is one very small address label of the previous owner just off the top edge of the front inside cover. There are no other attachments to be found anywhere in the book. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. There are great many illustrations, actually they are on just about every single page, photographs for the most part. They all appear to be in very good condition. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It's solid, but does show some wear. There's a 1 inch tear off the bottom edge of the front just adjacent to the spine. There's a tiny loss off the top edge of the spine and just adjacent to it on the front. There are a couple of very tiny tears off both the front and rear top edge. There's also a small tear/loss near the middle of the rear cover (third photo). The flaps are in pretty decent condition with just a little bit of wear and toning at their top edges. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all, and is fitted with a protective cover. From the dust jacket: 'Never before has so much vital information about thoroughbred horse racing and pari-mutuel betting been compiled in one fascinating volume. Avid horse-follower and interested spectator alike will learn why horse racing is not only the sport of kings.'. Seller Inventory # 002916
