Item description from seller

This work takes the reader step by step on the three-year journey through the building of the first commercial-class sailing ship in seventy-five years. It starts in America with Karl Andren, owner of the Circle Line and descendant to an old Aland Islands seafaring frmily, who first dreamed of building a sailship of enormous proportions for ocean crossings. Then moves to France, where the ship was actually built, and the technical complexities unfold and the clash of personalities. The book contains photographs, illustrations, notes, and an index. Light shelfwear to the jacket; otherwise, this copy is clean and solid. SIGNED BY THE CAPTAIN, FIRST OFFICER, CHIEF ENGINEER, SECOND OFFICER, PURSER, and SEVERAL OTHER CREW MEMBERS.
