Miles McEwan has been hiding for years. No one has really got close -- no one except the ghost of the young man, whose burnt and charred presence haunts him; a painful reminder of the fire that changed his life and scarred his face. But the past and the flames rise up like a Pheonix as, Emma, the girlfriend Miles left five years previously and, Rachel, the enigmatic 5-year-old daughter he never even knew he had, arrive into the stark loneliness of his new home -- Ross River, a place 'lost everywhere but on the government maps'. But as Miles begins fighting the emotions that this painful reunion has brought and desperately pushing away any new opportunites, a rampant fire starts which threatens to engulf the town and all its inhabitants. Pretty soon Miles is in a race to keep his family alive, and is given a chance to relive that fateful day when so much that was good turned bad. Author of LOST GIRLS (a New York Times and Globe and Mail Notable Book of the Year), THE TRADE MISSION, and KISS ME, a collection of stories. As new, unread, first edition, first printing , in near-fine )bottom rear edge show some rippling), mylar-protected dust jacket. {Not remainder-marked or price-clipped} A76.…
