First edition. A near fine copy; in a very good plus dust jacket with chipping to the crown of the spine, and some modest shelf wear. Jacket design by H. Lawrence Hoffman. After the publication of his first novel, the classic science fiction novel, The Demolished Man (1953), Alfred Bester drew upon his experiences working on a TV variety show to write a satirical novel about the television industry. Although the book did not sell well, Bester made a fair amount of money off the paperback reprint rights and from the optioning of the novel to a film studio.
