WANDERINGS BY THE LOIRE. Turner's Rivers of France. This edition, believed to be a later issue of the first title, is identical except that the engraved title page states above the engraving, "Turner's Rivers of France/The Loire" instead of "Turner's/Annual Tour/1833" and below the engraving, the printer's name is not present and instead of giving Longman as the publisher it states "London: Published by J. Mc. Cormick. 147 . Strand." The textual title pages are the same except that this copy has no date and where the other states "and Rittner and Goupil, Paris," it has simply "Paternoster Row". Original full red leather, wth general light wear, with gilt decoration to spine, mostly faded, and more brightly to both covers. Gilt edges. 21 engravings from drawings by Turner. Donor inscription dated July 26, 1854. Small ownership stamp. The leather is not split at the joints but is coming away from the text block at the front hinge and is cracked at the rear. The binding is therefore a bit loose. Ow very good. A few plates are foxed. Seller Inventory # GRITCLWA2043
