8vo. (20 cm.) 316p. Preface by Errol T. Elliott. Bibliography. Frontispiece black and white photo of Walter Carleton Woodward plus three full-page black and white captioned photos showing Woodward with other Quaker leaders. Blue cloth with gilt letters on the front cover and the spie. Very minor wear to the extremities with nothing rubbed through, spine darkened and gilt dulled, small rubbed spot on front cover, cover gilt bright, all photos in fine condition, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. Walter Carleton Woodward [1878-1942] was part of the westward migration of Quakers in the westward expansion to the west coast. His intimate knowledge of the Quakers of this period served him well as editor of THE AMERICAN FRIEND, beginning in 1917. He was also a Professor of History and wrote several historical works including the following: THE RISE AND EARLY HISTORY OF POLITICAL PARTIES IN OREGON (1913); FRIENDLY TALES OF FOREIGN TRAVEL (1928); and TIMOTHY NICHOLSON, MASTER QUAKER (1927). Errol T. Elliott was Chairman of the Walter C. Woodward Memorial Commission. ¿ Emerson, Elizabeth H. [Holaday, 1885-1973] was the author of several books on prominent Quakers, as well as a number of religious plays. Seller Inventory # 008230
