First ed, London, printed by S. Palmer, 1728. 4to, [50p], 407p. 12 engraved plates & fine engraved ornaments. 23 x 29cm, good margins. Some neat pencil annotation. Original full-calf boards, attractively rebacked with red gilt label. Bkplt of John Grenfell, inscr to Sidney Grenfell. Nice copy of famous text. The author knew Newton and edited the 3rd edn of Newtons Principia. With the comment p [ix] as he sat alone in the garden, he fell into a speculation on the power of gravity.
