Thousands had died during the harsh Crimean winter of 1854/55, but the besieged Russian naval base of Sebastopol was still holding out.On 22 May an Allied squadron of fifteen thousand men was on its way to attack Kertch and Yenikale and force entry into the landlocked Sea of Azoff, in order to cut the enemy's vital supply route to Sebastopol. Commander Phillip Hazard of HMS Huntress had a cruelling, if not impossible task ahead of him. For he had been ordered to sound and buoy a channel off the Cheska Bank to ensure safe passage for the Allied squadron. He knew he would have to face the treacherous silting sandbacks, the Russian gun batteries and floating bombs which could cause so much destruction. But what Phillip Hazard didn't know was that he'd have to face a court martial as well. Part six of an eight-part series. 174 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.).
