Item description from seller

69 pages, paper still uncut edges, half title, charcoal endpapers, on recto of half title the name in ink of "Prof Henry Hebb Sills". Two tone binding , quarter white vellum and blue cloth boards, some light wear to boards, 8vo.Notes Included with this is a typed copy of his humorous rhyme "The Motor Bus" (a macaronic poem written in 1914 satirising the advent of the motor bus in Oxford. The Irish author was a classicist and humorous poet an his first book. ALSO please note: I purchased this copy directly from Professor Sills himself in Norwich in about 1987. The AI info online on the man states his dates as 1873-1941. This is NOT the date of his death. I can assure AI and anyone else that he was still (although poorly and had an oxygen canister to aid his breathing) alive. This date may be when he ceased being part of Kings College but even this is wrong methinks as he was there after the war? But 1941 it was not a death date. I remember clearly him saying to me "Don't get old son". 40 years later I sort of get it. …

Store description

We are a small, single-owner business. We have been operating on and off since 1977 and our stock is varied, leaning towards antiquarian and 19th century with the addition of original aquatint and lithographic, or woodcut engravings. Also maps and Ephemera - in fact, anything interesting on paper really. We have in stock every item we list. We do not use stock photographs, but photograph each item individually. We very rarely use "fine" or "mint" as a description, mainly due to the age and the fact that 99.9% of what we sell has been pre-owned and therefor Fine would not be a term for a book we sell despite its fine-like appearance. We always take items back unreservedly if not in the condition as described. We always try to describe fully.…
