JASPERS,Karl. Vernunft und Existenz (Reason and Existence). J. B. Wolters, Groningen, 1935. TP + 1 leaf = Rector's Dedication + half-title + [i] = Inhalt + 1-115, Octavo. First Edition (KJ-DP, #218).These five lectures by Jaspers present solid and enduring ideas, and a new philosophical structure of consciousness,if not a new picture of reality. Jaspers exploresthe idea of thatexistence beyond ordinary awarenessis, in the end, not just a featureless terrain.Of special importance to this argument are philosophic categories which are essential to understanding Jaspers's thinking: existence, freedom, and history, and the limit-situations of death, suffering, and sin. Written shortly after Jaspers's major systematic work and before his analysis of the problem of truth, Reason and Existenzoccupies a primary position in the development of his thought.CONDITION: Very good or better in original green card wraps. The spine has been sunned. Internally clean.
