Add to basketFirst Edition (Number Line to 1). This first edition is very rare, in fact I was unable to find one other for sale on the Internet. I'm listing the book at half the price I had intended to due to some foxing that I will describe in a few moments. You can see the covers of the book in the photos. They are in pretty nice condition. There is a slight bit of darkening off the front top edge, near to its corner. I don't see any conspicuous soiling. The gilt lettering on the spine is nicely bright. There is a light semi-crease near the spine's top edge. The spine ends have only the slightest crinkling. The cover edges are in very good shape, no rubbing. The cover corners are also in very good shape, no rubbing. The top and bottom page edges look pretty good, the bottom one has a few tiny amber spots. The middle page edge has a significant amount of amber foxing. The spine has a slight forward lean, but the book is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The front cover does make a light crinkling sound when you close it. The inside covers and end papers are perfectly clean. The title page is perfectly clean. I turned over every single page in the book. On page 20 and 21 there is an amber spot off their outer edge. Then there is a similar amber spot off the outer edge of pages 60 through 67. 198-209 as well. There may be as many as many as fifty pages with an amber spot, on most of the others it is tiny. There are only a few pages where an amber spot lightly touches the print (if you'd like photos of he pages you can contact me). Other than this foxing, the pages are actually free of soiling. I didn't see any other kind of spots or stains. The pages are quite nicely bright, no toning. I did see any conspicuous creasing, no turned-down corner creases or placeholder creases. I saw a few pages with a tiny nick at an outer edge. There are no markings in the book. No attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It is pretty clean, a few specks. I don't see any tears. I've always had the jacket in a fitted protective cover. There are no tears on the flaps. There is a thin crease that extends from the bottom edge to the middle of the middle edge of the front flap. There's also a thin crease below the rear flap's top corner. And there is thin bit of toning just off the top edges of both flaps. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. There is a blurb on the front flap from Kirkus Reviews. It reads: 'The best courtroom-drama novel in years.' It sure made for a good movie--- the movie received nominations for Best Picture, Best director, Best actor (Paul Newman), Best supporting actor, and Best Screenplay-- Based on Material from Another Medium (this novel). It made The American Film Institute's all-time best 100 movie list coming in at number 75.
