About this Item
1932. First edition. [vii], 172pp. and a frontispiece portrait. Joseph Pearce (1862-1945) was born in Staffordshire and started work as a clerk at a timber yard. He was guided as a young Christian by Dr Joseph Ferguson, who put him on the plan, directed his evangelistic fervour, mapped out his studies and called him into the ministry. Before entering the ministry at Brighton, Joseph spent six months as Dr Ferguson?s assistant at Burslem. In that time he witnessed some 200 conversions. His obituary records that he was a preacher of outstanding merit and had a burning passion for souls, travelling all over the country, preaching and lecturing. He also published many works, and this book is the third volume of his meditations. Some of the studies had previously appeared in various journals. The book is bound in the original blue cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine and front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some light soiling on the boards. The spine ends are bumped and there is wear to the titling on the spine. The contents are tight and clean with foxing to the free endpapers and first few pages, including some marks on the title-page. A name and date (1938) has been neatly written on the top edge of the front free endpaper. Seller Inventory # gNet074
