While the Battle of Midway is considered the greatest U.S. naval victory, the devastation of the American torpedo squadrons where of the 51 planes sent to attack Japanese carriers only 7 returned and of the 126 aircrew only 29 survived. Not a single torpedo hits its target. Flawed planning, poor equipment and pilots with no training show how often in the early days of the war, the top brass acted often out of immediate feelings and no analysis. This was in an age when it would more than half a century later that Twitter had been invented. Bound in brown paper covered boards, spine lettering silver.
