Edgewear to boards. good to very good Famous 18th century English shorthand book, published posthumously 4 years after the author's death. Byrom who was from a wealthy Manchester family began teaching his system in the 1720's and would later through an act of Parliament be granted the sole right of teaching and publishing his system for 21 years, after runing into some difficulties in his proposal to publish his system by subscription in 1739.
