SUBTITLED : ` Rustic French Hound ' . The PBGV breed was not officially recognized in the U.S. until 1972, however its origins in the Vendeen region of France go back to the late 18'th century. Per Knudsen of Denmark and Kennel Axmo did much to bring the breed to world-wide prominence. 172 pages of breed specific info. incl. : hunting origins, Canadian club executive, confirmation, size limits, show champions and reknowned breeders. Many b/w photos, some colour spreads, also b/w drawings of `visualization' characteristics. Cond :Boards are pebbled grey w/ silvery gold decor. and lettering. D.J. is white w/ 3 Kwasny portraits of PBGV's done in pencil. ( End-papers are white. ) Former is bright, tight and CLEAN in all ASPECTS. Latter is VG++ with 5 sm. tears on upper edge, three are tape `repaired'. NO other flaws. Tight and brillianrt and giftable. Quote (p. 117) : " She admonishes us that this active breed does not make a docile, houndy house pet. He is happiest doing what he was bred to do, that is, to hunt. If this breed is not given . ."
