The first and second volumes are inscribed on the front flyleaf by Kenneally to James Francis Cardinal McIntyre, Archbishop of Los Angeles from 1948 to 1970. The fifth volume is inscribed by Kenneally to McIntyre's successor, Timothy Cardinal Manning. Tall octavo. Original red cloth binding, with gilt stamping. Some offsetting from a newspaper clipping to p.x-xi in the first volume, with a related newspaper clipping taped to the front pastedown.
