First Edition (first printing). 8vo. viii, 374pp + [ii] publisher's advertisements. Black cloth lettered and ruled in mauve at the spine and upper board. The cloth worn and chipped at the backstrip ends with a two-inch tear to the head of the spine. Corner tips rubbed and the cloth a little marked in places. Free endpapers lightly toned and with a touch of spotting to the title page. Some insect nibbling to the lower margin of the first twenty-five leaves (impacting no text). A fair copy only of the author's third book. Certainly not the nicest copy, but scarce indeed, and published thirteen years before his celebrated novel 'Hangover Square'.
