Green cloth spine papercovered boards with paper label on front board and spine. Small bookstore label on front pastedown, small stain on top margin of the illustrated page entitled "Sir Edward Elgar", corners rubbed, very good. Reproduces portraits, by William Rothenstein, of George Bernard Shaw. George Russell, J. Conrad, T. Hardy, T.E. Lawrence, M. Beerbohm, A. Bennett, R. Bridges, J. Galsworthy, J. Drinkwater, A. Gide, A.E. Housman, W.H. Hudson, H.G. Wells et al. Each portrait is accompanied by a biographical sketch; in his preface William Rothenstein thanks the subjects, stating: ".
