The portraits include Albert Einstein, T. S. Eliot, George Bernard Shaw, Max Beerbohm, John Galsworthy, Walter De la Mare, et al. Quarter black cloth over paper covered boards with black titles on front and gilt titles on spine. Spine bumped at ends with cloth torn along a good portion of spine cover. Corners bumped and worn through. Covers stained and sun faded at top. Endpapers browned. Blemish on both front paste down and end paper. Internally tight and clean. Portfolio of twelve portraits by William Rothenstein, each with a captioned tissue guard. All the works were completed between 1927 and 1929, only one of which had been previously reproduced. Strong, whose "The Sacred River: An Approach to James Joyce" was dedicated to Turner. Very Good, lacking the dust wrapper, the paper covered boards with rubs and tears along fore edges. The 12 portraits feature Albert Einstein, T. S. Eliot, George Bernard Shaw, Walter De La Mare and John Galsworthy among other contemporary notables.
