About the Author
Author of Tuning the Mind: The Geometries of Consciousness, Dr. Joye entered Rice University on a physics scholarship and graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. After working for three years with John Lilly in research involving isolation tanks and inter-species communication, she began contemplative practice with Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and subsequently earned an M.A. in Indian Philosophy. She was awarded her Ph.D. in the Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness program at the California Institute of Integral Studies, developing the Pribram-Bohm holoflux theory of consciousness under the guidance of Drs. Allan Leslie Combs, Brian Swimme, and Dean Radin. Shelli Joye is the CEO of The Viola Institute, working to establish a consciousness research and contemplative retreat center in the countryside north of Assisi.
