About this Item
(olive green cloth; no dust jacket; possibly a rebinding of some sort, as the cloth is completely unmarked, i.e. no decoration or lettering) [a good sound copy, moderate wear to extremities]. A journalist's first-hand account of the Spanish-American War, essentially a compilation of his previously-published reportage covering the build-up to the war, his time in Cuba during the actual fighting, and the immediate post-war period. The book is divided into two sections: "Yankee Doodle in Camp," primarily concerned with the Florida-based preparations of the U.S. Army for its foray to Cuba; and "Yankee Doodle in Cuba and Porto Rico," covering the period of the war itself and slightly after. The author later got into the movie business, becoming a production manager for Pathé and writing the scenarios for a number of silent feature films and serials during the 1910s. (For reasons unknown, the word "of" is omitted from the title page in this printing.). Seller Inventory # 27844
