Tristan L'Hermite was the pen name of the renowned French dramatist / poet François Tristan. He led an adventurous life, including a duel, in which he killed a man at the age of sixteen . for which act he had to flee to England. Of his plays, the most highly considered is "Marianne", which was his first. Others followed : "La Mort de Seneque", "La Mort de Crisp", "Parasite". Aside from dramas, Tristan L'Hermite wrote a number of well-regarded poems, which are reproduced in this book, which was edited and annotated by Philip A. Wadsworth, and published by Editions Seghers in Paris in 1962. The text is entirely in French.
