First American edition, translated from the new French edition. Scarce. Contemporary brown cloth, paper spine label. viii, 9-113 pp., plus [1] pp. errata. Spine sunned, title label rubbed, damp staining to boards. Pencil marginalia, some staining and foxing to interior. Tissot, a Swiss physician (1728-1787) published the first edition of this classic text in 1760, warning the world of the dangers of sex, especially sex for pleasure instead of reproduction. He proffers that it can lead to debility and death because of the depletion of vital fluids. Seller Inventory # 013205
