The first edition of this work on architecture, edited by Arthur Ashpitel, illustrated throughout with plates and in-text illustrations. The first edition of this work. 'Treatise on Architecture' is a comprehensive work looking at various aspects of architecture, including arches, stone-masonry, carpentry, roofing, joiner, and at various materials that can be used. Edited by Arthur Ashpitel. Ashpitel was an architect whose buildings including the churches st St Barnabas, Homerton, and St John the Evangelist in Blackheath. He was a prolific writer and wrote many articles for magazines about architecture. Illustrated with fifty-two plates and numerous in-text illustrations. Collated, incomplete, as lacking three plates numbered forty-seven, forty-eight, and forty nine. In the original cloth binding. Externally, with some cracks to the joints, resulting in the cloth to the spine to be lifting a little. Light fading to the spine. Minor markings to the boards. Hinges are starting but firm. Ink inscription to the head of the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright with some scattered spots, mostly to the first and last few pages. Good.
