Colour frontispiece showing Elbruz from near Patigorsk, 3 b/w plates, 1 panaroma plate, 16 illustrations to text, 3 folding maps, with Appendices recording details of the Elbruz Expedition of 1829; heights of peaks, passes, towns and villages in the Caucasus Provinces; and a catalogue of plants, 2pp, publisher's advertisements. Bound in the original pictorial brown cloth with gilt pictorial design (vignette of a Tartar) on front to centre of upper cover, spine titled in gilt. Binding is good. Spine is knocked at the top and bottom, cloth hinge slightly cracked at top of front board, cover marked in a few places. Loose part of front end paper missing. Scattered foxing particularly on front and end pages, minor notes in margins mostly in pencil but very occasionally minor mark in pen. otherwise pages clean and bright considering books age.
