Remarkable 18th-century treatise on public health, written by the renowned Paris-based Portuguese philosopher of Jewish ancestry. This work also contains as an appendix considerations on earthquakes, with a notice of the most famous that are mentioned in history and of the last which was felt in Europe, Africa and America since the first of November 1755. Heavy rubbing on binding. Head and tail of spine slightly chipped. Front board somewhat bowed. Previous owner's signature in ink on title page. Minor and sporadic foxing and browning throughout.
