Vintage Hardcover with attached fold out b/w illustrated map (Mongolia) designed by F. K. Morris, drafted by L. B. Hill. First Edition, 1926, G.P. Putnam's Sons, 375 pages. Very Good, No DJ. Minor shelf/edge wear to green cloth boards with gilt titles - top two corners lightly bumped. Previous owner name lightly written on FFEP. All pages are clean and unmarked. Deckled edges and TEG (top edge gilt). Both errata slips intact. Orange-tinted scene of a camel caravan printed on the pastedowns and adjacent endpapers. Author Roy Chapman Andrews (January 26, 1884 ? March 11, 1960) was an American explorer, adventurer, and naturalist who became the director of the American Museum of Natural History. He led a series of expeditions through the politically disturbed China of the early 20th century into the Gobi Desert and Mongolia. The expeditions made important discoveries and brought the first-known fossil dinosaur eggs to the museum. 29 chapters, list of The Central Asiatic Expedition Fund Contributors, Expedition Papers and Index. 58 vintage photographs by J.B.
