Add to basketThe first edition of this Reconstruction era history of America, a singular work by Claude Bowers. Presented from the film editor to Hettie Gray Baker to the author Paul Gallico. The first edition of this work.Claude Bowers' history into the period of American history after the assassination of Lincoln, an interesting hyperbolic work, a popular history that very much portrays the ideas of the Reconstruction.Illustrated with a frontispiece, and eight plates.Collated, complete.Presentation from Hettie Gray Baker to Paul Gallico to the front paste down. Baker was an American film editor of the early days of cinema, employed by Hobart Bosworth as a story editor in 1913. She worked on a series of silent films based on Jack London's novels, such as 'Burning Daylight' and 'The Valley of the Moon'. She may have been the first female editor to be acknowledged in a film's credits, though she was rarely credited for her work.Paul Gallico was a noted novelist best known for 'The Snow Goose' and 'The Poseidon Adventure'. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Spine is a touch faded. Light marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the spine and extremities. Presentation label to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean. Very Good.
