This VG quality first edition book was published in 1968 by Grosset & Dunlap. It is 7-5/8" tall and has 175 numbered pages of text followed by an unnumbered page advertising the first three "Chris Cool" titles; it is format #3, as per Mattson & Davis s bibliography (Grosset & Dunlap; 7-5/8"; pictorial composition binding, medium blue spine & back cover with black lettering for title, white lettering for author; pictorial front, in colors; spine & back cover are light orange [or "school bus yellow"]; decorated end pages are black line drawings depicting the same scene as the early end pages did; frontis +8 to +11 full or partial page illustration, all on plain paper. No dust jacket). This book is square, very clean, with no edge dings and minor bumps to both front corners and top rear corner--the top two corners have minor fabric damage and all three have some color loss; head and heel are lightly bumped without fabric damage; the bottom edges have little wear except at the heel of the spine and both lower front corners, all of which have some color loss. The front panel has two small scrapes which have resulted in some color loss and both scrapes affect the title (see photo). The interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains of any sort and page damage of any type. The hinges are strong and not damaged in any way. The frontis and other illustrations are intact. The paper is quite flexible. The book lists only the first 30 Swift Jr. titles on the rear panel; there is no list in the book.
