Item description from seller

Norwood, Aurora Heritage Action, [1984]. Oblong quarto, 64 pages with numerous illustrations from photographs (some full-page). Pictorial card covers slightly rubbed; an excellent copy. The book documents the fight to save the Aurora Hotel in Adelaide; it was demolished in December 1983. This forms part of a larger trend of loss of Adelaide architectural heritage, and the culture these buildings embody. At the time of writing (July 2024), a similar battle is raging over the threatening redevelopment of the Crown and Anchor Hotel (colloquially, "The Cranker"), a popular live music venue in Adelaide. History repeating itself.
