1951. First edition. [iv], 224pp. Nigel Tranter (1909-2000) was a popular Scottish writer, best known for his works on castles, architecture and history. He also specialised in deeply researched historical novels that cover centuries of Scottish history. This novel is a tale of the empty saltings of the East Lothian coasts of the Firth of Forth. The book is bound in the original green cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The book is in very good condition with light bumping to the spine ends and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper (artwork by Biro) has shelf wear with some soiling and small pieces missing from the corners. Up to about 1/2" is missing from the top of the spine and part of the top front edge and a large piece of about 2" is missing from the bottom of the spine. There are a few tears of up to about 1" on the edges. Seller Inventory # gScotLitTran01
