Hardback in good condition, acceptable dust jacket. Text is clean and unmarked, binding tight, some tanning of pages due to paper used and age. Dust jacket shows signs of wear with dings, chips, nicks etc., owners name inside cover. This is the story written by Rev. Walter Colton of the U.S.N. from his diaries of his voyage to Pacific waters and California in 1845. Born in 1797 he had at 17 joined the navy to see the world. Ill health got in his way and he became a Minster, however the sea called and he saw the world from Lisbon, Messina, Constantinople and when the call came for California he accepted.
