Item description from seller

A "gifted reporter" offers psychological cases studies of 3 men: a New York slum dweller "plunging downward to a life of crime,'' a "necrophile with a green thumb,'' & "an articulate homosexual in his cocoon of weird ritual." Orig. published as newspaper pieces in 1950, this is the FIRST EDITION, First Printing, in book form from 1954, in 297 pages with an Introduction by psychologist Gordon Allport & a Foreword & Afterword by the author. Hardcover book has blue paper over quarter light blue cloth-covered boards, lettered in bright gilt to front & spine. Condition is Near Fine: exceptionally clean, binding strong & straight, pages creamy white & unmarked. Red topstain bright. Corners mildly bumped & very faint rubbing to extremities. The unclipped DJ (with $3.75 price intact to front flap, selection by Book Find Club to bottom of same) is VG, with fading & light soil, modest creasing to spine; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free! Our photos depict the exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have!
