Original blue, green, red and pink pictorial cloth, 5 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches, index, glossy paper, 430 pp, illustrated with black and white drawings and frontispiece photo of a large model locomotive built for the princess of Siam. Hardcover, good, no dustjacket. Corners bumped with a bit of cardboard exposed there, some soil on cloth, spine moderately tanned, 1 inch tear at head, a few 1/4 inch nicks at foot. Internally, paper lightly age yellowed, front hinge cracked, additional hinge cracks between a few of the gatherings, otherwise tight, clean, paper crisp, unmarked. Written for all skill levels of the creative child, gives detailed instructions for making 39 things such as a joiner's bench, a photographer's developing sink, a mechanical target for rifles, a telegraph, electric motor, railroad train, steam turbine, hot air engine, a self-launching model airplane (actually flies) , puppets, wind (weather) vanes, a miniature gas works, and a variety of other marvels of the early 20th century.
