"This book is written for the student or the engineer who is interested in error-control codes because his goal is to use them in applications. Having said this, however, we must also say that it is not possible to divorce practice from theory. Although it is not necessary for the designer to master the subject in all areas that are important to the researchers of the field, he cannot function satisfactorily with only a superficial knowledge of the subject or without the necessary mathematical background." This book has 500 pages and is illustrated throughout.
