About this Item
8" x 5.5", 46 pp. The Venice Biennale is an international cultural exhibition hosted annually in Venice, Italy by the Biennale Foundation. The biennale has been organised every year since 1895, which makes it the oldest of its kind. The main exhibition held in Castello, in the halls of the Arsenale and Biennale Gardens, alternates annually between art and architecture. In 1954 the island San Giorgio Maggiore provided the venue for the first Japanese Noh theatre shows in Europe. This book was created for that event. Three fold out pages list the schedule of shows at the event. Then Noh dance is explained and traslated from Japanese to Italian and English opposite each photo. "The dance of No must keep an impassible appearance even in its grand movements. All these forms, conserved and practised in the course of six hundred years of experiences, have attained the summit of subtlety today." Very good, printed on one side of folded Japanese paper. Ten [10] tipped in B&W photos Card cover with Japanese styled fan in red, green, silver on the covers with title in Black. Light wear to edges, small tide marke at top left front corner. Seller Inventory # 3287
