8vo. [12], 11-314, [2] pp. Blue pebbled cloth boards with reddish-brown lettering on the front board and spine; red topstain. Illustrated with a frontispiece and four plates by John Coleman Burroughs. The dust jacket matches all first edition points but we think it is likely a supplied replacement dust jacket: from the publisher. Burroughs fans could write to the publisher's firm in Tarzana and request new dust jackets for their books. Heins T29. Zeuschner 578. A beautiful copy of the final Tarzan adventure to be published in the author's lifetime. Burroughs' work as a war correspondent during the Second World War informed the plot of this story. A touch of rubbing to the boards' corners, fading to the topstain, and a Los Angeles bookseller's stamp on the free front endpaper (Everybody's Bookshop of Los Angeles).
