Foreword by Evelyn H. Lauder. Introductory essay by Charles Gandee. Numerous fine colour photographs throughout. Features 21 residences with interior designs by New York-based designer Thad Hayes. From inner front flap of dustjacket (in full): "Since establishing his design office in New York in 1985, Thad Hayes has become one of the most sought after interior designers. The twenty-one residences features here show why. Clean, sharp, and elegant, Hayes-designed spaces are intelligent expressions of sensitive luxuriousness. Unpretentious and yet cooly sophisticated, the work is marked by its tendency toward serene composition and a subtle color palette, by rooms that embody meditative understatement and yet demonstrate an appreciation for utility and comfort. Generously embracing both the period and the modern, significant objects and simple ones, furniture he finds and furniture he designs, Hayes' interiors are wonderful demonstrations of aesthetic sensitivity to nuance and style". First printing, with "1" as the lowest number in print number line on copyright page. Printed in China. Bound in original grey cloth with blind-stamped lettering to front board & bright silver lettering to spine, dark blue endpapers, in publisher's unclipped pictorial dustjacket. Very slight shelfwear to dustjacket, otherwise a very nice clean tight solid hardcover copy. 240pp. Large very heavy volume, extra shipping may be required. Uncommon title. SB-8. …
